Fuel cells
Power plant with its own filling station
Stationary fuel cells are increasingly significant in supplying Germany's population with heat and electricity. The engineers and technicians of TÜV NORD have accompanied and supported this development from the very beginning.
The decentralized supply minimises losses in the transport of heat or electricity that arise over long distances. If fuel cells are not directly connected to their energy source via a cable, they must keep a reserve of it in a store.
Thus, it is easy even for the layperson to understand why we look at fuel cells in this section – and not, as might seem obvious, in the section on energy production.
