Operators of commercial or industrial systems must provide verification that the operational noise level meets the requirements of the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG).
There are general procedures specified in the technical instructions on noise to rate this noise level. The technical instructions on noise specify immission guideline values, which must be observed in neighbourhoods, for installations that require licensing as well as those that do not.
Furthermore, the technical instructions on noise contain regulations concerning daytimes, sound transmission of noises within buildings, and other special individual situations. The determination of the noise immission (measurement, calculation, and projections) is also precisely regulated.
