Functional Safety Management
Implementation of functional safety
A needs-oriented and process-oriented quality management system (QM) is important for the product lifecycle of safety-oriented systems and components as per IEC 61508 or IEC 61511. It safeguards the product lifecycle and optimizes it in terms of costs. The optimal integration of IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 into an existing management system is an important step in this.
If safety management systems are implemented, all of the management activities required by IEC 61508 or IEC 61511must be used in new projects and in the overall operation of a plant. If new projects need to be defined in the future, only a simple and short project or QM plan will be needed.
Our procedure:
- Strength and weakness analysis of the operational and organizational structure in regard to IEC 61508 or IEC 61511
- Prioritised requirements of the management system
- Prioritized corrective and improvement measures for the management system
- Adapting the QM according to the selected measures for safety-related systems
- Implementation of the changed management system on the core process level (on the basis of selected projects)
- Preparing for the Safety Management Audit as per IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 (internal audits, pre-audits under the conditions of the certification process)
- Functional Safety Management Audit
- upon successful completion: Confirmation by means of a "Functional Safety Management" certificate as per IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 is possible
