Pioneers in testing and monitoring
The European air traffic control services are subject to uniform licensing regulations. We are the first private organisation in Europe to carry out the preparatory examinations and monitoring. For the national licensing authorities, who subsequently make the decision on certification, this arrangement relieves them of a significant amount of work.
The new licensing or certification processes are based on the integration of specially qualified and accredited independent companies. These so-called "Recognized Organizations" carry out the initial inspections and monitoring checks at the air navigation organisations. The direct decision on certification itself is then taken by the respective licensing authority on the basis of the audit results.
TÜV NORD was involved n the early stages of these developments and is the first private organisation to receive this Europe-wide accreditation. Together with the National Aerospace Laboratory of the Netherlands (NLR), the Technical University of Braunschweig and the AERODATA Flight Inspection GmbH, we inspected various organisations in the course of a certification procedure which had to be completed by mid-2007.
As a result, we are in a position, through independent audits, to assist European air navigation organisations to maintain a high level of operational safety.
Outside Europe too, air traffic control services can use the experience we have gained over many years and the sound expertise of our experts in the setting up or restructuring of their organisations and operational procedures.
