Purchasing and selling vehicle parts and accessories on eBay
3, 2, 1 … what to do?
eBay is revving up. It has a huge selection of motorcycles, spare parts and tuning accessories. But not everything that looks good is actually legal. You should check the details before you make a mistake while bargain hunting. eBay and TÜV NORD Mobilität are cooperation partners and would like to make a contribution towards problem-free buying and selling. Have fun and bon voyage!
To ensure that initial joy does not turn into a nasty surprise
Although many eBay items are described in great detail, buying and selling vehicle parts often raises questions:
- What documents do I require to fit tuning accessories?
- What risks do used parts and forgeries represent?
- How do I know if the offered parts comply with road traffic licensing regulations? Does the seller have to correspondingly identify the parts?
- What do I have to check in the case of chip tuning?
- What do I have to check when buying a tuned or converted vehicle?
- ABE, EC operating permit, material report or parts report? What are the differences?
- Can I buy official articles, such as TÜV vehicle inspection stickers or vehicle titles?
- What information should the vehicle parts seller include in the article descriptions so that the buyer can identify these as suitable for his/her vehicle?
