After all, if these errors are first detected in the production vehicles by the end customers, costs from the warranty claims and product liability start accumulating. However, the consequences associated with the damage to your image and the future sales opportunities throughout the market are even greater.
To prevent errors before you even start, it is considerably safer and significantly more efficient to tests the facilities in a timely manner. Since testing complex and safety-critical electrical systems in a vehicle at the end of the development process cannot be carried out with technically sufficient accuracy and results in costly expenses. Countless questions about the required quality and safety requirements simply remain unanswered and jeopardise the unlimited functionality.
We support and test the compliance of safety, conformity, reliability, and other quality requirements starting in the first phase of development. Therefore, we simplify the following steps of the project procedure and subsequently allow smooth certification.


TÜV NORD, together with the Institute for Automotive Technology and mobility, is a member of FlexRayTM and AUTOSAR. The international industrial consortiums have made it their goal to standardise and increase the safety and reliability of electronic components and communication systems in automobiles.

Communication engineering:

  • Development and implementation of the FlexRayTM protocol conformance tests for communication controllers
    TÜV NORD IFM is the official protocol conformance test partner of the FlexRayTM consortium
  • Specifications and implementation of interoperability tests for control devices
  • Parameter analyses and optimisation calculations for communication systems


Validation tool development (software and hardware):

  • Checker tools for testing formal consistency and semantic accuracy of the on-board power supply database
  • Specifications, development, and implementation of software tools for testing according to the AUTOSAR standard


Functional safety: Consultation during development for IEC 61508 through:

  • Project coaching:
    Assessment and analysis of existing safety concepts
    Support in all activities promoted in IEC 61508 (e.g. SIL determination, FMEA, planning of the verification and validation, SFF determination, document preparation, hardware and software development, hazard and risk analysis)
  • FSM realisation:
    Analysis of the organisational structure and process organisation
    Implementation of IEC 61508 in the quality management
  • Fault tree analysis, FMEDA with our own tools
