Caution trap: “Fuel saver”
Save with "fuel savers"
Save your money on one thing: Fuel efficiency boosters. Numerous tests show that, despite their manufacturers' promises, no effect can be detected.
TÜV NORD Mobility suggests: Keep your hands off fuel efficiency boosters
We're constantly amazed by these "amazing" products. In one case, magnets are wrapped around the fuel line; in another, a mysterious gel is applied to the air filter. Manufacturers and advertisers are always thinking up new wonders that will supposedly save fuel.
The sobering reality: Independent tests show the manufacturers' promises to be hokum; no effect could be demonstrated. What's especially annoying, these products are sold at sky-high prices.
Car manufacturers also warn against these products. If they cause damage, you may lose your guarantee or replacement claim.
