"Auto selection" saving factor

Petrol or diesel?

Which car is best suited to you and your purse? In addition to varying fuel prices, you should also take the purchase and your annual mileage into account.

Important: You also buy consequential costs

Before you buy a new car, you should thoroughly weigh up the pros and cons. A diesel is often more expensive than a petrol model. But it is tempting in terms of lower consumption and cheaper fuel prices.

On the other hand, with a petrol model, there are often benefits with regard to insurance and longer service intervals. Some diesels also need to be retrofitted with a soot filter before driving in envrironmental zones.

In general, it can be said that one third of the diesel vehicles available on today's market pay off with mileage in excess of 10,000 to 15,000 km per year. It is worth comparing diesels.

Look out for the following when purchasing snow chains

  • Nice appearance of the car and engine power are not everything. Also consider aspects such as noise emission, air resistance and recycling compatability.
  • To save fuel, the engine should have powerful torque at low speeds.
  • The car should have a rev counter. This makes it easier for you to drive economically.

TÜV NORD Mobilität offers you the TÜV NORD ConfidenceCheck for buying or selling a car. Together with you, our experienced experts have a detailed look at the car and tick off a checklist of over 80 inspection points. You are thus optimally informed about the true condition of the vehicle.
